iZ! motive

Start: November 2011

Period: 2 +/- 3 year

Due to the conventional and hierarchical way in which the supply chain of the automotive aftermarket is organized and has been governed for many decades, this market is unable to adapt to the challenges of today. Until recently, none of the actors in this supply chain has had any incentive to change or challenge the status quo. However, several trends and new developments have caused this supply chain to become increasingly less apt to meet current day market demands. These are:

  1. Increasing customer awareness with respect to component pricing;
  2. A sharp decrease in the perspective of auto-shops and dealers of the value proposition of various actors in the supply chain;
  3.      Changing legislation that allows more entrepreneurial freedom with respect to the variety of categories of vertical agreements and concerted practices by auto-shops and dealers.

The objective of project IZI Motive is to successfully demonstrate a new and innovative logistic 4C concept in the automotive aftermarket. This new logistical concept will allow this sector to better match current day customer needs whilst simultaneously contributing to important governmental and EU themes such as traffic congestion and environment. The project is led by IZI Concepts in close cooperation with relevant actors from the supply chain and the scientific field. These are Packs Special Care, Stor-e and Technical University Eindhoven.
