Cross Chain Control Collaboration (4C)

Dinalog presents 4C concepts at ICT and Logistics Fair in Utrecht

The ICT and Logistics Fair is the Dutch platform on ICT solutions for the logistics sector. The Fair offers also a range of seminar and workshops. Dinalog was asked to organize a workshop on 4C concepts.

Within the concept of 4C, several companies jointly coordinate and execute their logistics activities with the help of a control tower. As a neutral facilitator, the control tower monitors and plans all information-, financial- and physical flows of all participating companies with the help of smart IT-solutions. However, trust between collaborative partners remains essential to make a 4C successful. In the past years, several DINALOG projects with representatives from industry and knowledge institutes have addressed 4C/collaboration challenges. In the meantime, even the NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences recognized the role of 4C in future logistics and incorporated this in its curriculum.

In collaboration with the NHTV, DINALOG organized this workshop on the ICT & Logistics conference in Utrecht in which Bas van Bree, program manager 4C, and Jasper de Graaf, assistant program manager, discussed some of the most interesting and practical results of 4C-related DINALOG projects.

Although there are differences, each project investigates the possibilities for different types of control towers: within a terminal (port or inland), over a single supply chain (horizontal or vertical) or over several supply chains (cross-chain). And all initiatives are bothered with same issues like data collection and sharing, ICT integration, value creation, gain sharing and trust.
