Connecting practices

Op de conferentie NWO-MVI Connecting practices staat de meerwaarde van de MVI-benadering voor praktijk en maatschappij centraal. De verbinding en dialoog tussen wetenschap, bedrijfsleven en maatschappij is daarbij een belangrijke invalshoek. In het plenaire programma spreken Jeroen van den Hoven (Technische Universiteit Delft), Luuk Klomp (Ministerie van Economische Zaken en Klimaat), Bas Boorsma (Cisco) en Françoise Rost van Tonningen (Rabobank) over MVI en de digitale samenleving. Daarnaast zijn er workshops over MVI en smart mobility, energie, circulaire economie. Ook over samenwerking tussen onderzoekers en (publieke en private) partners evenals over MVI en ‘learning communities’ zijn er workshops. Gedurende de dag wordt gewerkt aan een tweetal vragen van bedrijven waaraan NWO-MVI kan bijdragen.

Preliminary programme
09.00 – 09.45 hrs: Welcome

09.45 – 10.00 hrs: Opening by Anthonie Meijers, chair of the NWO-MVI Programme Committee, professor at Eindhoven University of Technology

10.00 – 10.30 hrs: Introduction of challenging questions from corporates
During the day we will work on two challenging questions from two corporates. The questions will be introduced by representatives of the businesses (e.g. Peter Haring from Unilever). Two teams will collect the input and present the results at the end of the day. You can provide input via an online system or directly via the team.
Question number 1: How to get MVI on the corporate agenda?
Question number 2: Who determines what makes an innovation responsible?

10.45 – 12.15 hrs: Workshops Round 1
From knowledge to transition – learning communities
The MVI approach and the practice of Learning Communities: what can they contribute to each other? How can results of MVI research be put into practice and made applicable for (the practice of) Learning Communities and the great societal challenges and transitions that we face today? And what role can Learning Communities play in the dissemination of MVI knowledge? This workshop is led by Rietje van Dam, professor emeritus at Leiden University and member of the NWO-MVI Programme Committee and the Supervisory Board of the TKI Biobased Economy. The Learning Communities are introduced byMarsha Wagner, Programme Manager Human Capital Agenda Topsector Energy. The concept will be elaborated upon a NWO-MVI project case and experts from vocational education.

MVI and Energy Transition
Inspired by two NWO-MVI project cases – one on responsible decision making on gas and one on smart urban energy systems – we explore the value of the MVI approach for society and practice. Participants are invited to take several stakeholder perspectives. Paulien Herder of the Topteam of the Topsector Energy is leading this workshop.

MVI and Smart Mobility
Inspired by two NWO-MVI project cases – one on persuasion for safer truck driving and one on meaningful human control over automated vehicles – we explore the value of the MVI approach for society and practice. Participants are invited to take several stakeholder perspectives. Albert Veenstraof TKI Dinalog (the Top consortium for Knowledge and Innovation for Logistics) is leading this workshop.

MVI and Circular & Biobased Economy
Inspired by two NWO-MVI project cases – one on partnerships for a bio-based economy and one on farmers involvement – we explore the value of the MVI approach for society and practice. Participants are invited to take several stakeholder perspectives. Kees de Gooijer, Chief Inspiration Officer for TKI Agri&Food, TKI Biobased Economy, and Food & Nutrition Delta is leading this workshop.

Cooperation between different practices
In what ways can researchers and private/public parties cooperate in research and innovation projects and simultaneously keep their independent position and their reputation? What are the obstacles researchers and private/public parties might face when they work together on responsible innovations? And, how can these different practices benefit from cooperation?
