Digital collaboration and reliably sharing (sensitive) data with unknown parties is in practice severely hampered by the lack of an infrastructure, a structured method, an environment for information management (offering, advertising and making data available) and the support thereof in a digital data sharing environment. The International Data Space (IDS) initiative and its reference architecture have been identified as a potentially powerful addition, with additional functions (such as discovery, metering, billing, brokering, etc.) for the reliable multilateral sharing of (potentially sensitive) data. As such, IDS provides a promising approach to arrive at an open, interoperable (and standardized) environment to reliably, efficiently and automatically support the ‘trust enabling’ functions for legally and technically enforceable data sharing agreements. Connection to / complementarity with previous initiatives (particularly NLIP / iShare) will be explicitly considered.

The aim of the project is to consider the service, business and governance model for the development and operationalization of IDS from the perspective of the logistics sector, resulting in a development roadmap. The ambition is to arrive at an open, generic and cross-sectoral IDS service ecosystem.
