20 November 2025 is the annual SIA congress, the meeting place for everyone involved and/or interested in applied research at universities of applied sciences. Some 600 people will come together to share knowledge, follow new developments and discuss research. This year with the theme: The world uitverGROOT.
TKI Dinalog works intensively with Regieorgaan SIA to stimulate practice-oriented research in logistics. Within this cooperation, we support projects in which universities of applied sciences, companies and social partners work together to develop innovative solutions to logistics issues.
An important tool in this are the KIEM projects: small-scale research projects that strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions and the professional field. Through these projects, new ideas are quickly tested and converted into applicable knowledge - exactly what the logistics sector needs.
Collaboration expands your world
Practice-oriented research stands or falls with collaboration. From SMEs to universities, from local to international - this theme is all about joining forces. Consider sessions on consortium formation, transdisciplinarity, working together on societal issues and building sustainable partnerships.
The best of both worlds
Education and research strengthen each other - if they know how to find each other. How does research flow into education to train the professional of the future? How do we position research in relation to education? How do we deal with social developments that affect this intertwining? This section provides room for inspiring examples and sharp insights into the intertwining of practice-based research and education.
A world of impact
Practice-based research is not separate from the world - it is shaped by it. Think of geopolitics, social movements or policy choices that raise new research questions, such as increased investment in defence or human capital. In this theme, we explore how external factors give direction to what we research and how practice-based research subsequently impacts society. From citizen science to innovative solutions to urgent issues: this is the stage where societal impact becomes tangible.
World work: building practice-based research
What do you need to do practice-oriented research - both as a professional and as an institution? In this section, we roll up our sleeves and get to work on the subject of practice-based research. Think about practical tools, the different roles researchers fulfil and the support they need to do so. From valuation to working methods: this is where the profession grows.
