The research projects contribute to the transition to sustainable, resilient and resistant logistics chains and freight transport. The projects contribute to knowledge development for resilient logistics chains and thus to societal interests such as sustainability and resilience.

The call for proposals was developed and issued by TKI Dinalog within Implementation Programme of the Top Sector Logistics (LINK) that fits within the government's commitment to mission-driven innovation policy and top sectors. In addition, projects were also honoured in the theme Construction Logistics and Mobile Work Vehicles, you can find that information HERE.

Awarded projects

The projects flesh out the research part of the Top Sector Logistics with a focus on knowledge development for the benefit of that sector and its policies. The research projects have a maximum duration of three years. The awarded projects are, in alphabetical order of project title:

SPACE2VALUE: license to operate and social added value of logistics real estate in scarce space

Penactor: Prof Frans Cruijssen and Dr Jelle de Vries (Tilburg University).

Urban space and space around multimodal hubs is limited, while demand for logistics real estate is increasing. This project will create insight into the social value per square metre of logistics real estate. The aim is to develop a data-driven tool to identify locations where logistics activities offer the most societal added value. Expected results include analyses of hotspots and a digital location selection model with the aim of promoting the integration of logistics real estate into regional policy frameworks.

TRACE3 - Tracking, Reporting, and Action for Scope 3 Carbon Emissions

Penactor: Dr Xichen Sun (Tilburg University)

The transition to carbon-neutral supply chains is essential for Dutch industry, with a focus on reducing Scope 3 emissions that are difficult to measure and manage. Given new EU regulations, companies need to develop fast and scalable systems for emissions monitoring. The project focuses on developing data-driven frameworks and tools for emissions measurement, targets and strategy implementation. It also offers recommendations to better align corporate and public sustainability goals.
