In today’s volatile environment, companies are under pressure to enhance supply chain resilience (SCRes) while safeguarding liquidity, yet strategies for resilience and working capital management (WCM) are often disconnected, leading to costly trade-offs such as inventory buffering versus supplier payment delays. This project aims to develop practical tools that help firms to identify and address these tensions. The project contributes to TKI Dinalog’s Themes 3, 2 and 51 by helping firms build more resilient supply chains without compromising financial health and hence be better prepares for climate and resource-related shocks.

This project has two work packages (WPs): WP1, develops and tests a Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) to identify misalignments or inefficiencies between SCRes and WCM strategies. WP2 involves three partner workshops an at least one tailored intervention per company. The workshop are purposed to generate input for and testing/validating the SAT, identifying focus tension areas for company interventions (following the action research approach) as well as distilling insights and learnings from these projects.

#ReCap pioneers the integration of financial and operational resilience strategies in supply chains. It introduces a novel diagnostic tool, grounded in both theory and business practice, and applies action research in diverse company settings. This dual perspective (finance + supply chain) is rarely addressed systematically and offers high practical value.
Valorization strategy and implementation strategy
The project uses action research to embed tools directly into business processes. Results will be shared via a web-based platform (resiliencescan.org), through practitioner publications, workshops, intern training and meetings, speaking engagements, and a final knowledge exchange event to foster broader adoption. Each participating firm implements a company-specific improvement, ensuring direct application.

Expected results:
• A validated SAT tool and five real-world interventions
• Practical insights on SCRes–WCM alignment across different industries
• 2 conference papers, 2 practitioner articles, and a final dissemination event
• Strong educational valorization through student involvement and possible integration into curricula
• A scalable toolbox to support broader adoption across Dutch companies
