Next Gen Supply Chain Resilience: Short-Term Wins, Long-Term Gains
The coronavirus pandemic revealed how vulnerable supply chains are. Shortages of raw materials, production stoppages, and logistical bottlenecks affected companies worldwide. Many organizations discovered that their resilience—their ability to cope with unexpected disruptions—was insufficient. Previous projects showed that companies mainly looked at internal solutions, while problems often affect the entire chain.
The Next Gen Supply Chain Resilience project aims to change this. The project aims to help organizations to increase not only their own resilience, but also that of the chains in which they operate. This enables companies to be better prepared for crises and other major disruptions, such as climate change or geopolitical fluctuations.
In this project, knowledge institutions, companies, and industry organizations are working together to develop new insights, practical tools, and training materials. Organizations are actively involved through workshops, scans, and case studies. This allows them to discover their own strengths and weaknesses and learn from other organizations how resilience can be strengthened. The knowledge is bundled into accessible tools so that other organizations can also make use of it.
The Next Gen Supply Chain Resilience project provides concrete tools that organizations can use to test and strengthen their supply chains. These include practical scans, roadmaps, and scenario exercises that help with both daily challenges and unexpected crises. In addition, valuable knowledge is gained about how resilience works in larger chains and networks.
