Pool2Pack - Multi-product pooling systems for reusable packaging logistics
This project’s goals is to advance the logistics behind reusable packaging systems, particularly through the development of effective, multi-product pooling systems, which are the core logistics networks required for scaling up reuse solutions in both B2B and B2C contexts. Building on insights from the LogiCELL project, this initiative aims to specifically focus on the logistical issues and related performance measures for systems with multiple packaging types and supply chain actors.
Key research activities include (1) developing a generic modelling framework for multi-product pooling systems, (2) applying this framework in two distinct case studies (PAKT and BOXO), and (3) creating an open-source, standardized dashboard to measure and communicate circular performance indicators.
The project’s innovation lies in its multi-product focus as well as in the focus on transparancy, which is increasingly vital under new regulatory frameworks like CSRD. Implementation will be facilitated through academic dissemination of the modelling work, through practical decision support for the participating companies, and through broader valorization via Het Groene Brein’s
sustainability network. Expected results include actionable models, case-based insights, and a open-source standard for dashboard that aim to support both economic and environmental impact of reusable packaging logistics.
