HubWays Demonstrator

The Dutch floriculture sector is widely recognized as world leading. Growers, traders, logistical service providers and the market places / auctions have truly understood the concept that working closely together is the best way to maintain such a leading position and to continue to have a prosperous industry. Accurate logistics is essential for all floricultural supply chain partners. And exactly this is a key challenge that the sector currently deals with.

Congestion, expected shortage of qualified drivers and sustainability are current pressures that are forcing the Floriculture industry to achieve a next step of efficiency and effectiveness. More over digitalization trends and virtualization are putting requirements to the industry that need to be met to ensure the competitive advantage of the Floriculture industry for the decades to come.

The Floriculture industry has therefore defined a chain wide project called HubWays. HubWays has the following ultimate objective: to implement the HubWays IT platform, which connects the entire floricultural sector by digital & logistical information to enhance collaboration and (re)use of information to enable parties to get more grip on their logistical flows, resulting in more efficiency and smoother processes. HubWays found its roots in the coordination concepts of the Commission Van Laarhoven. The project is supported and governed by the key industry bodies and more than 80 knowledge- and supply chain partners collaborating in developing HubWays.

The HubWays platform is a perfect showcase and is open for other industries to implement in their environment. Also the HubWays organization is willing to spread their knowledge and to present its beliefs about the winning truth about supply chain cooperation, in an industry-wide context. A website is established to share concepts, functionalities, experiences, pilot results etc.
