SIEEG

In this project a new ICT based method, called the SIEEG functionality, is demonstrated by CTT and partners to increase efficiency in the total logistics chain of main ports. The identified bottlenecks are the congestion on infrastructural networks that surround the main ports, the lack of an adequate interface to mediate between heterogeneous data from the parties involved and the need for an extended gate functionality to enable the efficient and secure flow of goods between deep sea terminals and the European hinterland.

The SIEEG functionality consists of a web service which gives insight into relevant data regarding the handling and transportation of goods 24/7. It enables logistical agents to plan, manage and synchronize available capacity (people, modalities and space), which benefits the efficiency of the logistical process and the transnational transportation of goods, specially to and from areas with heightened security standards.

Combi Terminal Twente and its project partners in the SIEEG project have identified bottlenecks responsible for a decreased efficiency in the total logistics chain of main ports.Thus, if the if the efficiency of Rotterdam Main Port is not increased The Netherlands could lose its role as Europe’s logistics gateway.
In this project a new ICT based method, called the SIEEG functionality, is demonstrated by CTT and partners to directly attack the bottlenecks and thus increase logistics efficiency. The SIEEG functionality consists of a webservice which gives insight into relevant data regarding the handling and transportation of goods 24/7:

• which enables logistical agents to plan, manage and synchronize available capacity (people, modalities and space);
• which benefits the efficiency of the logistical process;
• which benefits the transnational transportation of goods, specially to/from areas with heightened security standards.
